چکیده
Abstract Introduction Psychosocial stress exposure during the first 18 years of life promotes adverse sleep and cardiometabolic health effects. The purpose study was to investigate relationships between childhood (CS), efficiency (SE), fasting glucose levels (FG) in young adulthood. Methods In 24 adults ages 35 (83% Female; mean±SD, age = 24±5 y), CS assessed using a retrospective assessment averaged across reference 5, 10, 15 old. FG concentrations were obtained from whole blood samples SE an actigraphy device (ActTrust2) worn on wrist for 7 days, yielding ≥6 days data. Zero-order correlations used among CS, SE, FG. Multiple linear regression analyses examine effect controlling sex. To explore preliminary indications mechanistic link FG, ANCOVA analysis used. Participants grouped as either low (CS-low) or high (CS-high), completed with sex only covariate covariates, outcome. Results associated (r=0.50, p=0.01) (r=-0.41, p=0.47), (r=-0.45, p=0.03). association (β=0.51, p=0.016) (β=-0.43, p=0.046) remained adjustment confirmed where higher CS-high than CS-low (92.4±4.8 vs. 83.6±5.4 mg/dL; p=0.008). Additional reduced difference CS-low, but this significant (91.6±5.0 84.5±5.5 p=0.044). Conclusion is linked elevated adults. Our data suggest that warrants further examination potential mechanism by which relates larger sample sizes will be necessary draw definitive conclusions. Waiting Time Distributions of Actigraphy Measured Sleep
Sleep quality has a large impact on daily performance and general health. Among the different methods of objectively measuring sleep quality, actigraphy continues to be very popular. It can take continuous activity measurements over several days in order to determine sleep-wake cycles and calculate sleep variables, including the three standard sleep variables used in determining sleep quality: ...
متن کاملSleep efficiency and nocturnal hemodynamic dipping in young, normotensive adults.
Blunted dipping of nocturnal systolic arterial pressure (SAP) and heart rate (HR) are independent risk factors for hypertension and all-cause mortality. While several epidemiological studies report a significant association between short sleep duration and hypertension, associations between sleep efficiency and the nocturnal drop of SAP remain controversial. Moreover, relations between sleep ef...

OBJECTIVE Our study aimed to further elucidate the mediating role of presleep arousal in the relationship between daily stress and sleep by investigating subjective sleep quality and actigraphy-assessed sleep efficiency (SE) on both within- and between-participant levels in a sample of healthy young women. METHODS Multilevel modeling was applied on electronically assessed data comprising 14 c...
متن کاملAns Activity during Sleep and Fasting Glucose
Although autonomic nervous system activity is reportedly related to diurnal glucose tolerance impairment, the relationship with glucose tolerance during sleep is unclear. Since work styles have recently diversified, it is important to assess the effect of sleep on workers’ health. Elucidation of the relationship between autonomic nervous system activity during sleep and glucose tolerance in wor...
متن کاملCross-Sectional Associations Between Measures of Sleep and Markers of Glucose Metabolism Among Subjects With and Without Diabetes
OBJECTIVE To examine whether sleep duration and quality are associated with fasting glucose, fasting insulin, or estimated insulin resistance in a community-based sample of early middle-aged adults. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS This was an ancillary study to the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults (CARDIA) Study. Habitual sleep duration and fragmentation were estimated from 6 days...
